:: Sprinkling Baby Bennett ::

Baby number 2 has brought a lot more questions than I thought she would.

Clearly I am a seasoned mother veteran with my perfectly behaved 21 month old; so I should have all the answers and be highly prepared this time around. But a few things have stumped me:

1. how do you dress/shop for a girl?
2. do you register for baby #2?
3. is it annoying to have a shower for a second baby?
4. do i even bother to decorate a nursery?
5. what do i even need for an infant?!
6. how do you pack a hospital bag?

I could go on and on but I think those are pretty revealing of my mom brain that has forgotten everything and my lack of understanding of social norms when it comes to multiple children.

Thankfully, my sisters took charge and decided they would throw me a small shower with my closest family and friends so that baby Bennett was celebrated and I was a little more prepared for her arrival!

It was a beautiful night with lots of girls I love the most in this world. I am so thankful that my baby girl will have all of these women to love on her for the rest of her life! We're ready for you, Bennett!

Fall Bucket List 2014

In an effort to make Liam's last month of being an only child special, Ben and I decided a Fall Bucket List would be a fun way to create some memories during our favorite season.

1. Pick out and carve pumpkins
2. Make pumpkin bread
3. Leaf art
4. Roast s'mores
5. Tailgate at an NCSU game
6. Trick or treat
7. Go on a hayride
8. Go apple picking
9. Visit a farm

Hopefully this will become a tradition and we will get to add to the list as well as our family!

Women's Weekend 2014

Every September for the past few years, I have had the opportunity to go to Windy Gap for Women's Weekend. Each year has looked a lot different but one thing I can always count on is being forced to slow down.

When I'm forced to do this I am also forced to really listen to Jesus speak to my heart, reveal himself in new ways, and teach me anew how to rest in Him. So why don't I create space in my life to do that more often?? I'm sure I feel this way every year, but this year I felt especially ready for a weekend that reminded me of who I am in Christ and allowed space for me to meditate on evidences of his grace in my life.

I'm not gonna lie, this year also held a special anticipation and excitement that no other year ever has because JEN HATMAKER was the speaker and my very best friends were coming from all over to spend a weekend together. My heart literally felt like it was going to burst at the thought of so much gospel goodness and soul refreshing laughter.

It was simply the best.

Breakfast in Asheville before goodbyes

I am so thankful for this group of girls who I have lived SO much life with. Their constant encouragement, support, prayers, and authenticity are such a picture of community in my daily life. I only wish we could live this way on each other's back porches, not just via technology :( Maybe one day....

Until next time, aka #austin2015
